I recently returned from a documentary shoot in the Azores islands where I was working as a camera operator alongside the amazing filmmaker Peter Campbell of Gumboot Productions on a project for the Portuguese Joe Memorial Society, following Luke Marston as he reconnected with the roots of his great, great grandfather, Portuguese Joe.
What a blast I had with our amazing group of people, and what a beautiful place the Azores are. We spent most of our time on Pico island, which in some ways is like stepping back in time. From the amazing food and wines, to the stunning unesco protected half-century old lava rock houses and vineyards, this place should be on everyone’s bucket list!
Update June 2014: CTV is using some of the footage from the Azores shoot and a recent Reid Island shoot in an episode of First Story!
Here is a screen grab from some of the footage: the view of Faial from Pico.
